A Japanese player, considered by many to be the best Othello player ever. 9 DAN player in Japan.

Best Japanese championship: WINNER (1986, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1995, 2004 and 2005)
Best Meijin: WINNER (1988, 1989 and 1990)
Best Ouza-sen: WINNER (2006)

He has participated in eight World Championships (1986, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1995, 2004, 2005 and 2006) ; and has won the title seven times.

He is one of the two players to score 13/13 in the Swiss System (with David Shaman).
